Hutchins Intermediate school opened in 1922, but with changing demographics, the school was located in the middle of a slum by the 1960s. The declining number of students led to the school moving its remaining students to another school and Crosman Alternative school took over. However, the school closed in 2012. By 2013 it was infiltrated by scrappers. It had been purchased by a developer, but no plans have been made for a new usage.
