At one time, Cooley High School was the largest school in Detroit, at around 3,400 students. Today, the school still stands, but still sits vacant. There had been several bids to renovate and use the school for various uses, but all of them fell through. In 2017 a fire was set inside the auditorium (in my mind, the most architecturally interesting part of the school) that left it in ashes. As of 2025, the latest is Cooley will be redeveloped into a sports complex.
